One-Year Professional Acting Course
Train with working industry professionals and develop the skills, discipline and confidence required to pursue a career as a professional actor.
Our Performing Arts Acting course is a one-year, part-time vocational training programme designed for actors who want to develop a strong, versatile technique for both stage and screen.
Every session is practical. Through scene work, movement, voice training, character exploration and performance, you’ll develop the tools needed to approach professional acting with confidence, truth and creativity. Throughout the year you’ll be challenged, supported and pushed to continually raise the standard of your work.
The course follows a carefully structured progression across three terms, allowing you to develop your craft before culminating in a live Industry Showcase Performance attended by invited talent agents, casting directors, producers and other industry professionals.
Term One
Acting Technique & Performance Fundamentals
The first term establishes the core techniques that underpin professional acting. You’ll begin developing the physical, vocal and analytical skills needed to create truthful, compelling performances.
During this term you’ll explore:
Stanislavski-based acting principles
Objectives, obstacles and given circumstances
Voice technique, breath control and vocal expression
Movement, posture and physical awareness
Text analysis
Ensemble work and collaboration
Character preparation
Contemporary scene work
Industry knowledge and professional expectations
Throughout the term you’ll apply these techniques through practical workshops and performance assessments, receiving detailed feedback to support your development.
Term Two
Theatre & Screen Acting
Building on the first term, you’ll begin applying your technique across both theatre and screen performance.
Training includes:
Screen acting technique
Camera awareness, eye lines and framing
Professional rehearsal processes
Theatre scene study
Advanced text analysis
Actioning and character objectives
Uta Hagen’s character development techniques
Voice performance
Stagecraft
Professional preparation, including headshots, acting CVs and understanding the casting industry
Students also perform filmed screen acting scenes, gaining valuable experience working in front of the camera while receiving detailed feedback on their performances.
Term Three
Industry Showcase Performance
The final term focuses on preparing students for professional performance.
Working closely with your tutor, you’ll develop a contemporary monologue through detailed text analysis, character exploration and rehearsal, refining every aspect of your performance before stepping onto the stage.
Alongside your performance preparation, you’ll continue developing your professional profile by preparing your acting CV, headshot and industry materials.
The course culminates in Kingdom’s Industry Showcase Performance, where students perform live in front of an invited audience of talent agents, casting directors, producers and other industry professionals.
For many of our graduates, this has been their first opportunity to be seen by the industry, with some securing professional representation and acting opportunities following their performance.
Entry by Audition
Entry onto the Performing Arts Acting course is by audition only.
Applicants attend one of our monthly group audition workshops, where we assess their potential, commitment and suitability for the training.
No previous acting experience is required. We’re looking for individuals who demonstrate talent, commitment, creativity and a genuine desire to develop as actors.
Successful applicants will be offered a place on the course.

Advanced Screen Acting (YR2)
One-Year Professional Screen Acting Course
Exclusively for graduates of Kingdom’s Performing Arts Acting programme.
Advanced Screen Acting is a specialist one-year training programme designed for actors who want to develop the skills required to perform professionally in television and film.
Building on the foundations established during Year One, this course focuses entirely on screen performance. Across three intensive terms, you’ll refine your on-camera technique, develop a deeper understanding of professional screen acting, and prepare the materials needed to pursue work within the industry.
Working alongside experienced industry professionals, you’ll rehearse and perform a wide range of screen scenes, learn how professional film sets operate, develop advanced self-tape technique, and finish the course with two professionally produced showreel scenes designed to showcase your strengths as an actor.
Term Four
Building Professional Screen Technique
The first term focuses on adapting your acting technique specifically for the camera.
You’ll develop a deeper understanding of what creates truthful, compelling performances on screen while learning how professional television and film productions operate.
Training includes:
Professional screen acting technique
Camera awareness, eye lines and marks
Story beats and actioning
Text analysis for film and television
Character objectives and emotional journeys
Improvisation for screen
Working naturally under direction
Professional set simulations
On-camera rehearsals
Industry knowledge and career development
Throughout the term you’ll work with professional camera equipment, filming multiple scenes while receiving detailed feedback to continually refine your screen performances.
Term Five
Advanced Screen Performance
The second term explores the finer details of screen acting, helping actors create performances with greater emotional depth, subtlety and authenticity.
Training includes:
Listening and reacting truthfully
Playing subtext
Emotional preparation
Building layered relationships
Stillness and internal performance
Close-up acting
Improvisation
Advanced scene rehearsal
Professional camera rehearsals
Working confidently with direction
Students continue filming scenes throughout the term, applying increasingly advanced techniques while developing performances through rehearsal, playback and professional feedback.
Alongside your acting development, you’ll also continue building your understanding of the business of acting, including representation, casting, professional branding and developing a sustainable career within the screen industry.
Term Six
Self-Tapes & Professional Showreels
The final term is dedicated to creating the professional materials every working screen actor needs.
You’ll learn how to approach self-tapes with confidence, gain a clearer understanding of your casting type, and select material that best represents you as an actor.

Professional self-tape technique
Understanding your casting strengths
Choosing effective showreel material
Scene selection
Professional rehearsal process
Working with a director and Director of Photography
Professional filming techniques
Delivering truthful, industry-standard screen performances
The course culminates in the filming of two professionally produced showreel scenes, giving every student high-quality footage that can be used when approaching agents, casting directors and future professional opportunities.
Admission Requirements
Admission onto the Advanced Screen Acting course is available only to students who have successfully completed Kingdom’s Performing Arts Acting programme.
This ensures every student begins the course with the acting technique and practical experience needed to fully benefit from this advanced level of screen training.
Places are offered at the discretion of Kingdom and are subject to successful completion of the Year One programme.
